The Daily, Dangerous Habit That Is Silently Destroying Your Aligners

After spending tens of thousands of shekels, it turns out that the more you brush your aligners, the cloudier and smellier they become.

Run your tongue over your aligner for a moment. Feel that roughness?

Between us, the daily routine with aligners is exhausting and draining. Removing them before every small meal, thinking twice before drinking coffee, and then the burden of brushing them morning and night.

You wake up in the morning and scrub them with good intentions, because you truly want to keep them clean, even if you feel guilty about it and it's not the most enjoyable thing in the world.

But they still have a faint, strange odor, and they're no longer as transparent as they were the day you took them out of the box.

The most common mistake: scrubbing the aligner with a brush and toothpaste, which leaves tiny scratches on it. Photo: AI Illustration

Scrubbing clear plastic with a brush and toothpaste is probably the biggest mistake you can make.

Even the largest manufacturers of aligners explicitly warn against this, emphasizing that toothpaste contains abrasive materials that damage the plastic[1]. Beyond the toothpaste, the brush itself creates microscopic scratches on the aligner[2].

These scratches appear to us as mere annoying cloudiness, but for bacteria, they are a dream breeding ground.

Researchers from the Angle Orthodontist medical journal who examined the issue proved that biofilm settles deep within these narrow grooves, and that's where the odor begins that we simply cannot get rid of[3][4].

No one bothered to explain this to you, so you continued to try the same methods.

The brush only creates more scratches. Toothpaste, as mentioned, wears down the transparency. Even cleaning tablets that dissolve surface dirt cannot truly penetrate and dislodge what is already stuck deep within the grooves.

Now, you might be telling yourself that it's not so bad because you'll be switching to a new pair in another week or two anyway.

The thing is, when you have this plastic in your mouth 22 hours a day, it absorbs everything almost immediately, and the cloudiness and odor start to accumulate as early as the third day.

You paid between 9,000 and 20,000 shekels for this treatment to straighten your teeth without it being too noticeable, and scratches and cloudiness are exactly what take away what you paid for.

Additionally, you probably don't want to walk around for two weeks straight with plastic full of bacteria and fungi colonies clinging to your teeth[5] and risk your oral health, which could ultimately delay the treatment that already feels like an eternity.

At some point, I got fed up. I needed something that would take the hassle out of it and didn't require any scrubbing at all, and that's how I found VeraWave Pro.

This device works on a technology called Ultrasonic BioLift, and what it does is generate high-frequency waves in water that clean the aligner.

And it's not just me saying this; a series of scientific studies have already proven that ultrasonic cleaning is much more effective and powerful than any traditional manual scrubbing[6][7].

These waves create a cloud of cavitation bubbles that burst and penetrate those grooves and scratches that a brush would never be able to reach. You just add tap water, turn it on, and let it work for 5 minutes while you get ready, and that's it.

Try the complete kit5 minutes, water only, zero scrubbing

The truth is, at first, I wasn't quick to believe it, and I was sure it was just another gimmick device.

But on the first morning I used it, I realized I had found it! After 5 minutes of operation, I opened the lid, and the water was completely murky. You could visibly see all the dirt that had detached from the aligners.

I took it out, and it was completely transparent and odorless, to a degree I hadn't experienced in a long time.

This device, which is also recommended by orthodontists (and it turns out my orthodontist also knew about it but didn't bother to tell me), simply cleans in a way a brush will never achieve.

And I want to be upfront because it's crucial. This device cleans deeply and thoroughly, but it won't work miracles.

If your current aligners are already completely scratched from brushing, it won't "heal" the plastic and turn it back to new. But it will take your next pair and keep them truly transparent and odor-free from day one until replacement, all while saving you the time of manual scrubbing.

The complete kit: device and tablets

After trying it myself, I realized that the complete kit is essential. The full set costs 434.97 shekels.

I know, I also initially thought it was a lot of money for a cleaning device, and when I told my friends about it, they told me I was crazy.

But I explained to them the logic that I paid 12,000 ILS for this treatment, and the device is what protects this insane investment so I don't have to spend more money. It's barely 4% of what I've already spent.

Beyond that, once I'm done with the aligners in a few months, I'll need to sleep with a retainer for years to come. This device will accompany you there too, and keep it clean with zero effort.

When you look at it that way, everyone suddenly grasps the breakthrough and says, "Wow, you're absolutely right." So, for me, it's simply a smart and calculated long-term financial investment.

The device does the mechanical cleaning, and together with the included tablets, you get a complete system that takes all the hassle out of it.

Regarding the concern of buying online, since they only sell online, you should know that the kit comes with a 12-month warranty and a 30-day home trial (or money back).

That's enough time to see if the device helps you (and it will help) and check for yourself without taking any risk.

Numa Dental's Response At Numa Dental, we are always happy to read personal experiences from customers who have joined our family and adopted VeraWave Pro into their routine. It's crazy how much money is spent on this treatment, only for the plastic to look awful in the end. Thanks for the tip!

For me, the smell really disappeared since I started using it, and I didn't understand why the brush hadn't helped me until now.
